Celebs, Human Rights Groups Boycott Beverly Hills Hotel

The small East Asian country Brunei may be more than 8,000 miles from Hollywood. But celebrities upset by a set of laws recently passed there that include the death penalty for consensual gay sex and adultery have a target nearby to point their concerns.

The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and its equally high-end sister hotel Hotel Bel-Air are owned by Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, also the country’s prime minister. The properties are facing boycotts from the LGBT community and the stars that support it. Similar efforts are underway across the Atlantic, where the sultan’s hotel group, the Dorchester Collection, also operates hotels in London, Paris, Milan and Rome.[US News] Read more
