Park View teacher told pupils he 'wanted an Islamic state', teacher disciplinary hearings told

Senior leaders at a chain of Birmingham schools at the heart of the so-called Trojan Horse scandal failed to take action against a teacher who told pupils he wanted an “Islamic state”, a hearing was told.

Abid Ali, Head of Year 11 at Park View Academy, also allegedly backed a refusal by pupils to be taught by a gay teacher, saying, “Well as Muslims that’s what we believe”.

The claims were made by the Alum Rock school’s former associate vice principal Stephen Packer at a National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) hearing in Coventry.

Five senior teachers from the former Park View Educational Trust (PVET) face allegations of professional misconduct, including imposing an undue amount of religious influence on pupils’ education. [Birmingham Mail] Read more
